A Simple Fee Breakdown Guide

Separate recurring and one-off amounts.

The record to make

Separate recurring and one-off amounts. Start with the payment frequency, not the largest number. A recurring amount belongs to each stated period; a one-off fee belongs once. Extras may be recurring or one-off as well, so label their frequency before addition. This worksheet assumes equal monthly payments and does not reconstruct an irregular payment schedule.

Work through the worksheet

Place charges into three buckets: monthly base fee, one-off fees not already included, and monthly extras not already included. Combine several one-off items on paper before entering their sum. If an extra is charged only on use, record the number of intended purchases separately rather than treating it as a fixed monthly fee.

Worked arithmetic, not a quoted price

Hypothetical worksheet: £60 base monthly, £8 monthly extra and £25 one-off across five months gives (£60 + £8) × 5 + £25 = £365. The monthly average is £73. Setting the extra to already included changes the total to £325; it does not make the service free, it prevents counting it twice.

Check the uncertainty

Is every extra labelled by frequency and inclusion status? For “A Simple Fee Breakdown Guide”, keep the answer with your figures. An exact calculation cannot confirm a missing input. If the written quote and your interpretation disagree, request clarification from the club before treating the result as complete.
