Do not turn missing information into zero. A blank fee is an unknown, not a free item. Write not stated when a quote does not mention a charge. Use confirmed zero only when the club explicitly says no charge applies to that item in your quote. Keeping that distinction prevents an apparently precise total from hiding incomplete information.

Work through the worksheet

Draw two columns: confirmed figures and questions outstanding. Calculate the confirmed subtotal separately and label it incomplete. Before entering zero in the calculator, decide whether zero is an actual quoted amount or merely your temporary assumption. If you use an assumption for planning, put it in the note and do not send the subtotal as a final price.

Worked arithmetic, not a quoted price

Hypothetical example: £70 monthly for four payments gives £280 in confirmed recurring charges. With an unknown joining fee, £280 is not an all-in quote. If written confirmation later adds £20, the total becomes £300 and the four-period average £75. Nothing in the initial blank justified calling the joining fee waived.

Check the uncertainty
